My hopes for the next decade...
Don’t try and tell me the new decade starts in 2011. TIME says it starts tomorrow, and I agree. :)
-I hope I get into a damn good college.
-I hope I can pay for the damn good college.
-I hope I can thrive well in the damn good college.
-I hope I can further reduce my impact on the environment.
-I hope our country in general does the above (cleaner energy!).
-I hope the government wakes...

"I'mma get me a scholuhshiiiip..."
At this point, I’ve sent applications to Colorado College, Connecticut College, and Hamilton College. Before I leave Texas, I’ll send my applications to both Pitzer College and Swarthmore College.
After that, I’ll have four or five more to get out.
This app stuff isn’t nearly as tough as I thought it was going to be, as it’s pretty easy to reuse essays and such. The...

Culture dump
Over breaks I find myself watching tons of new movies and listening to all sorts of new albums. This is what I have been thinking of as my cultural dump. A mountain of new things to take in, and all sorts of thoughts to go along with them. As I just watched a movie, I’ll start with those…

Robots coming out of my head.
Tomorrow morning I’m off to Texas to see my dad, and hopefully see my homegirls back from Princeton. I’m excited! But I’ll be finishing up my first big wave of college applications over there.
It’s going to be an exhausting week. 2010 is coming like a freight train…hopefully it doesn’t run me over.

iGot giftcards...
Between my aunt, my mom’s boyfriend, and my mom’s boyfriend’s parents, I have $70 for spending on nothing but iTunes downloads.
That’s pretty awesome.
I’m already planning on blowing some on the aforementioned Switchyard album, the first and latest album by the Vacancies, and another Digger album. But that still leaves a lot to go on.
While there isn’t any...

Bomb the Music Industry! is a really really great band. They (primarily the hero of Quote-Unquote Records, Jeff Rosenstock) have just hit the five year anniversary mark, and this song was something of a present to the fans on the most lovely of anniversaries…and Christmas, I guess! The band is best described as straight ahead Punk-Rock with...

"Break"? Wuzzat?
Tomorrow, I’ll be off to Hotchkiss, on the other side of the Rockies, a good eight hour drive away. This is where I’ll be spending the very first Christmas ever spent away from home. I won’t be waking up in my own bed, and that seems utterly foreign to me. It’s obvious and now very cliché that it’s good to explore out of where you’re comfortable, but at this...

Chris S.: Love you! :D
Me: Love you more! ;D
Chris S.: Love you times infinity!
Me: Love you times infinity plus one!
Chris S.: Shit! That's a lot.
Me: Hell yeah it is.

Switchyard
I love finding music that no one else knows about. A little while after hearing her beautiful, piano-laden cover of a Misfits tune, I finally decided to look for more by the one-girl band Switchyard. I’m really impressed. I’ve only heard four songs (the cover and all the other ones on the Myspace page), but I’ve really fallen in love with Rachel Bellinsky’s voice. Simply...

Stuff Journalists Like? Hell yes... →
This site is pretty amazing. I myself really do like a lot of the things on here. The people who created this site are geniuses.
Followers, I apologize for my massive amount of posting today…It’s just one of those kinds of days. :)

College Application Essay #2: Mike
Mike Dirosario’s record room was impressive, to say the very least. His three players were older than I am, and so were most of his records. Many would refer to his records as “oldies,”, but I would rather call them “classics.” Through the pops and scratches, warm sound invaded the entire room: Dusty Springfield songs, Lesley Gore, The Beatles before they had become...

Dubbed
On my enormous list of things to do before I get to college, one of the things on there is to have every song on my iTunes listened to at least once. There’s actually a pretty disconcerting amount of things with a blank play count…There’s lots of stuff on there I keep around for nostalgia, or things I have to be in the mood to hear, or things I simply haven’t gotten around...

Rest.
I love thrift stores. A lot.
A visit to the local Arc yesterday reaped some particularly great rewards. I went initially to get a suit jacket, but I left with not only a killer jacket, but a couple wonderful treasures in the form of CDs, and a Christmas present for a dear friend of mine. I wanted the jacket for future use in Forensics meets and other occasions that would be deemed appropriate for...
