When I met AJ, I didn’t really like him very much. He seemed abrasive and all up in my bubble and he liked to tell me what to do (I was his newbie, after all) but he has grown on me. Right now on IM, I could imagine not having him to talk to. And I mean, who else uses the term “lickety split”?

    Dear Kendelle,

We met during sophomore honor guard at the World Arena. I had seen you walking around school before with your piercings and your Slipknot backpack… and I admit, you intimidated me a little bit. I knew other people knew you, but we were never really in the same place, so we never talked.

Then, during junior year, you were indeed my newbie on the newspaper. It was my job to be loud and obnoxious and boss you around! It was for your own good, of course (and you admit to loving my loudness now anyway). I hope I helped you become a better writer, because I feel like I’m a better person in general because of you, Kendelle. That’s where senior year comes in.

You took up the ‘ol A&E torch and ran with it, and impressed me. We had our stupid math class together with Mr. Touchberry, and thus an hour every day where we could talk. We bitched at each other about our problems, laughed at the ridiculous people around us (literally and figuratively), and we gave each other our differing perspectives. I looked forward to that class so we could have our excellent talks.

You should know how much I appreciated that time, Kender, and how much I miss it. Thank you for being there, and like I said, if you ever need me, I’ll be there to talk, lickety split.

    Sincerely,

AyJay Kazrooski (as my calculator still reads).
